Welcome to
For A Child’s H.E.A.R.T., Inc.!
Are you a current, transitioning or former foster child who…
…is angry about the events of your childhood?
…feels your life was a mistake???
… has difficulty in developing trusting relatioips?
…is afraid of facing the world alone?
Are you a caregiver or other adult in “the village” who…
…is worried about the future of a youth who seems to be wasting his/her life?
…feels helpless in your efforts to make a positive difference in a young person’s life?
… thinks what you’re saying is going into one ear and out the other?
…is open to support and different ideas from someone who has been through it?
Then, your HEART is in the right place!
By the time many children and youth have reached school-age their hearts have already experienced the cruelties and injustices of the world. Add to that number, those who’ve lost, or never had the nurturing care and bonding to the mother who gave birth to them, and have endured the neglect, abandonment, and/or or abuse resulting in foster, adoptive, group home or relative care.
Many well-meaning caregivers and professionals attempt to “fix” these children through various disciplinary measures and behavioral modification techniques for their inappropriate behaviors; and psychotropic drugs for the chemical imbalances in their brains or poor learning/academic development without recognizing the equally injured and damaged parts --their hearts and spirits.
"It is vital that when educating our children’s brains we do not neglect to educate their hearts."
~ Dalai Lama
For A Child’s H.E.A.R.T., Inc. recognizes that not any ONE approach works for any and every child. However we do believe and subscribe to the belief that when adults not only receive the standard parenting, case management, and clinical training, but are open to healing their child within, the
quote which says “Where love and skill match, expect magic” is real.
When the adults who care for these children and youth acknowledge and begin healing the hearts of their own “inner child”, the ability to love unconditionally is increased and the cycle of abandonment and/or abuse decreases.
Spend some time browsing our site to see the MANY ways in which we reach out to bring healing into the hearts of youth and families.
